Read 2 Corinthians 5:1 through 9:15
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Paul goes on to state that whoever gives sparingly will receive sparingly and whoever gives bountifully will receive bountifully. One thing a generous giver will receive from God is an increased ability to do good.
What is the effect of giving generously? First, it supplies the needs of the local church (verse 12). Secondly, it produces thanks to God (verse 12.) It also causes people to glorify God for obedience to the gospel (verse 13). It creates prayer for the givers by the recipients (verse 14).
When we give out of what we have, God promises to provide for us and bless us. The more generous we are to others, the more generous God is to us. What we give out of our limited ability, God returns to us out of His abundance. Think of ways to give to God, and start giving generously and cheerfully.
Challenge for Today: Determine in what ways you can give more generously.
